South – French Navy – Silver is a two-colour, hand-pulled silk screen print on white archival BFK Rives 100% cotton rag paper, imported from France, with watermark and deckled edge, 250 gsm. From a numbered edition of 3.

Printed at Malaspina Printmakers in Vancouver, BC, each print is signed in pencil by the artist at lower right, numbered at lower left, and embossed with the blind stamp of Rapture Editions. Includes a Certificate of Authenticity from Art Rapture / Rapture Editions.

Created in collaboration with Rapture Editions, South is the final release in Ola Volo’s West, East, North, South series. Inspired by the vastness of the ocean and the universe, the work draws from Ola’s travels to the southern seas. The queen’s hair flows like a nautical map, with layered forms reminiscent of oyster shells at the water’s edge, while her upward gaze suggests a search for guidance from the stars.

Due to the hand-pulled, full-bleed nature of these French Navy works, each print’s deckled edges carry unique variations that reflect the rawness of the process.
